How to Become a Designer

Design is in my blood. Even from an early age I played in the world of architecture and art, drawing up plans for a smart little world of my own. As an adult I explored a range of disciplines, from art to graphics to typography, furniture to interiors, and even a little architecture too. (What can I say– I really love design.)

A professor once told me “just make it look good” and so my work interiors presentations were always top-notch to the point of obsession. Combined with an aptitude for strategy, a decent ability to write, and my first degree in psychology, over time I eventually found myself channeled from creating to presenting, from designing to marketing… Which is what I’ve been doing the last few years. It’s been fulfilling, I do love my job, and the hours are better for sure, but there’s still that nagging need to make things. Which brings us here.

What’s the point of calling yourself an artist or a designer if you don’t create? I’ve dreamed up dozens of art-furniture-interiors ideas over the last two years always thinking “One day…” But there’s no time like the present, is there? So now I make myself the promise that not another note, or drawing, or conversation will be set aside for some later, more convenient time. Here you’ll find me exploring the process of bringing my ideas to reality. Hoping to learn a lot along the way, and that you’ll share your thoughts, insights, support, and critiques as I venture forth.

I’m excited for the all the opportunities this great big project has to offer. Please say hello and many, many thanks in advance. xo
